"3 Visions" Feb. 6 | Spectrum Gallery
| Spectrum Gallery, located in the east building of the DeKoven Center, Racine, presents “Three Visions” – featuring three artists: Mary Mollerskov, Theron P. Snell and Bill Berggren. The public is invited to a free Grand Opening on Saturday, February 6, from 12:00 – 5:00 PM. where the photographers will be present.
Each of these artists have a strong, unique focus in their approach and philosophy as well as in their final images. Mary Mollerskov is a multi-media artist who works in photography as well as other art media. Mollerskov states, “I believe that we can create a more peaceful world through the arts… design, music, painting, photography, theater and other art forms make this a better world in which to live, connect with people, share creativity and promote peace.” Theron P. Snell said, “I’m drawn to people and the spaces they occupy. As a street photographer, I look for that magical moment when I catch a combination of color and shape, a juxtaposition of individuals alone, together, or with man-made objects… sometimes a close-up of personal features, a tableau, shapes or colors that say something to me.” Bill Berggren seeks out and photographs commonplace as well as unusual wildflowers and plants, with or without their insect partners. “I work with color, light, and shades of gray,” said Berggren, “in diverse ecologies including dunes, marsh, prairie, woods, creeks and rivers…each providing its own challenges for a nature photographer.”
“Three Visions: runs through February 28. Spectrum Gallery is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 – 5:00 PM and by serendipity and appointment by calling (262) 634-4345
