Mary Ann (Nelson) Trempt
1924 -- 2010

Mary Ann (Nelson) Trempt, 85, passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 1, 2010, at United Hospital System - Kenosha Campus.

She was born to the late Henry and Ruth (Moen) Nelson, March 28, 1924, in Coon Valley, Wis. She was educated in Coon Valley and graduated from Westby High School in 1941. She came to Kenosha in 1942, and was employed at the Wisconsin State Employment Service for 15 years. There she met Paul Trempt, whom she married on Aug. 2, 1952. Later, she worked as a bookkeeper at Dr. Olsman and Dr. Naik's office for 21 years, retiring in 1986.

She was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a former member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. She loved to travel and took several trips to Europe with her husband. After his death on Jan. 2, 1988, she joined the Factory Outlet Mall Walkers where she met many lifetime friends.

She enjoyed reading, rooting for the Brewers, actively spending time with family and friends, including the "Table of Knowledge," and was a former member of HCE.

Mary Ann is survived by two beloved sons, Paul and Peter (Misty) Trempt of Kenosha; three adoring grandchildren, Nicole (fiancée Brett Christopher), Steven (girlfriend Connie Mason), and Allison; one sister, Delaine Erickson of Coon Valley; two brothers, Layton (Betty) Nelson of Coon Valley, and Michael (Sandy) of LaCrosse. She is also survived by her devoted ex-daughter-in-law, Crystal (Everett) Fink of Racine.

Preceding her death were one sister, Henrietta (Tony) Valeo; and two brothers, Leonard (Ione) and James.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum. A visitation will be held on Saturday, from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that her friends celebrate her life by taking time to spend time with someone who is still alive. Call a friend, visit a shut-in, take someone to lunch, spend time with an elderly person, and celebrate life in the memory of Mary Ann.
