Margaret “Marge” Carolina Knudsen (nee Arbet), 92, of Paris, passed away Feb. 2, 2010, at St. Joseph’s Home for the Aged in Kenosha, after a 15 year battle of fighting Alzheimer’s disease.

Born July 14, 1917, to Michael and Mary (nee Straka) Arbet in Russell, Ill., she moved to Kenosha as a child to the family farm in Paris in 1925. She married Alonzo Knudsen on Oct. 5, 1940 and together they raised two sons. Marge had several careers over her life time including farming with Alonzo in Brighton from 1942 to1965, managing the Easterday Motel, and Sales at Sears and Community Discount stores. Some of her cherished hobbies included raising honey bees, gardening, flowers, landscaping and caring for her country home and yard, and tending to her large apple orchard. She also enjoyed time spent with family at gatherings, picnics, and holiday parties.

Margaret is survived by her children, James and Joseph Knudsen who reside at Southern Wisconsin Center in Union Grove; her brother, Raymond (Jane) Arbet Sr. of Paris, who lives on their parents family farm, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Margaret was preceded in death by her loving husband, Alonzo; her parents, Michael and Mary Arbet; her brother, Louis Arbet; and her sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Glen Knudsen.

Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 5, from 5-7 p.m. at Miller-Reesman Funeral Home in Union Grove. Further visitation will take place Saturday, Feb. 6, at 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Kenosha at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at St. George Cemetery.
