Sister Pancratius Ritacca, OP
1919 -- 2010

Sister Pancratius Ritacca, OP, of Sinsinawa, Wis., died Feb. 4, 2010, at St. Dominic Villa, Sinsinawa. The funeral Mass will be held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa Feb. 9, 2010, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery. Friends may call after 5:15 p.m. Monday, Feb 8, at the Motherhouse, where there will be a wake and remembering service at 6:30 p.m.

Sister Pancratius made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican Aug. 5, 1939. She taught elementary school for 52 years. Sister Pancratius ministered in Kenosha, Wis., as a teacher at St. Thomas Aquinas, 1983-1991, and doing family care, 1991-1993. She served nine years at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish doing a variety of ministries including religious education, home visits, sacristan and Bible study. She served in Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota.

Sister Pancratius was born Dec. 1, 1919, in Kenosha, the daughter of Joseph and Frances (Ruffalo) Ritacca. Her parents preceded her in death. She is survived by a sister, Joyce Holland, Kenosha; a brother, John Ritacca, Kenosha; nieces; nephews; and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared life for 70 years.
