Dorothy C. Wiersum
1929 - 2010

Dorothy C. Wiersum, 80, of Kenosha, passed away Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at her residence.

She was born on March 27, 1929, to the late Christian J. and Elizabeth (Persenaire) Beezhold in Chicago, Ill. She was educated in the schools of Chicago and graduated from Gateway Technical in the nursing program.

On June 7, 1952, she married Eugene Wiersum in Chicago.

Dorothy worked as a nurse for St. Catherine's Hospital for many years, retiring in 1983.

Dorothy was a member of the Christian Reformed Church, a charter member of the Four Seasons Garden Club, a member of the Kenosha Art Association, the Bristol Oaks and Maplecrest Women's Golf Leagues. She volunteered at Kenosha Hospital for many years.

Dorothy enjoyed gardening, sewing, golfing, painting, bowling, skiing and swimming. Along with her husband, they belonged to the Allemande Square Dance Club. She loved spending winters in Florida for the last 20 years.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband, Eugene of Kenosha; her loving children, Roxane (Bill) Sobanski of Kenosha and Todd (Peggy) Wiersum of Woodbury, Minn.; her siblings Christian (Christine) Beezhold of Evergreen Park, Ill., Nicholas (Kay) Beezhold of Schererville, Ind., William (Harriet) Beezhold of Lansing, Ill. and Judy (Joe) Greenwood of St. Petersburg, Fla.; her grandchildren, Carrie Sobanski of Chicago, Ill., Joel Sobanski of Milwaukee, Valerie Wiersum of Minneapolis, Minn., Stephanie (Luke) Tornquist of St. Paul, Minn., and Leslie Wiersum of Providence, R.I.; and her great granddaughter, Ella June Tornquist of St. Paul, Minn.

Her siblings Frank Beezhold, Betty Clifford, Christine Prince, Helen Makowski and Agnes DuPree precede her in death.

Funeral services for Dorothy will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 10, at 11 a.m. at the Christian Reformed Church (7506 - 25th Ave.). Interment will follow at Green Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Bruch Funeral Home, and again on Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. until time of the service at the church. Memorials would be appreciated to the Christian Reformed Church.
