Dog parks will require maintenance

Lately we have heard about the county’s effort to have dog parks. We are told that they will be partly funded by the private sector. But it will still be a burden for the taxpayer in the long-run. County parks have to be maintained.

The county executive was the minority leader in the Assembly and also was the representative of the 64th district. While in Madison, he was aware that citizens voted for a casino to be located at the Dairyland dog track. At our expense he went to observe a casino that was located in another state and seemed in favor of a casino here.

However, it would seem that when the governor was not in favor of the Kenosha location he lost interest in promoting it.

In my opinion, jobs at the casino and those who choose to frequent it would have been a plus for the Kenosha County economy.

We will soon have the spring elections. But perhaps it will behoove someone to watch the performance of our public servants and elect to run against them next time.

Things can change with new leadership and the taxpayers will be better served.

Dog parks or jobs and increased tourism, that’s the question that should be addressed.
