Atmosphere changes at Lakewood

Jan Iselin has been a Lakewood School teacher aide for 13 years, not for financial reasons but because she likes working with students. Over these 13 years she been an outstanding aide. Everyone who has experienced her caring and helpful assistance can attest to this. Any teacher will tell you good teacher aides are hard to find and keep.

At the January board meeting, Mr. Dunn, board president, was confronted with a litany of indiscretions by the PTO secretary. One day later, Ms. Iselin was called in by the board and given her discharge papers with no reason for the firing. Could it be because she opposed Mr. Dunn’s actions? Are we going to continue losing good employees for reasons other than job performance? Is this the person you want controlling your school? Should he be making these decisions? Are staff now fearful for their jobs if they speak out?

Please help restore the open-armed, caring and cohesive atmosphere we once had at Lakewood over the last 20 years. Attend a board meeting, vote out Steve Dunn on the recall, and voice your concern before any more good staff are lost.
