Central made its return to the Southern Lakes Conference a memorable one. Three Falcons — senior Christina Brinkman (volleyball), senior Candice Moretti (cross country) and junior Jordan Leslie (girls tennis) — were each named player of the year in their respective sports, the conference recently announced.

Here is the full listing of Central and Wilmot athletes cited by the SLC for the fall sports season.

Football

No Central or Wilmot players were named to the SLC’s first teams for offense or defense, but Wilmot senior DB Dustin Morton was named to the league’s second team defense.

Garnering honorable mention offensive accolades were Central sophomore RB Derek Jennings and Wilmot senior linemen Andrew Holst and Derek Krahn. Three players were named honorable mention-defense/special teams — Wilmot senior DL Mark Glover and junior P Steve Sevey and Central senior LB Chris Corkins.

Lake Geneva Badger senior QB Jared Stan was picked as offensive player of the year, while Waterford senior LB Bernie Tamsett won the league’s top defensive award.

Cross Country

In addition to Central’s Candice Moretti’s title as the SLC’s girls runner of the year, others named to the girls all-conference squad included Central junior Hannah Andrekus and freshman Abigail Reeves and Wilmot junior Emily Hamilton and freshman Amy O’Connell. Central’s Katelyn Anichini and Wilmot’s Courtney White were named honorable mention.

No boys runners from either County school received All-SLC status, but Central’s Austin Meyers and Wilmot’s Josh Betz were each named honorable mention.

Girls Golf

Wilmot senior Brianna John and and junior Kailee Wahler garned All-SLC second team status, while Wilmot junior Afton Swartz and Central junior Jenna Lasco merited honorable mention.

Edgerton’s Allyssa Ferrell was named the league’s player of the year.

Boys Soccer

Central senior forward Taylor MacKinnon was the lone County player to be named to the All-SLC first team. Wilmot senior forward Justin Dewing and and senior defender Shane Heckel garnered second team status along with Central junior midfielder Kevin Del Cid Correa.

Wilmot senior Andy Jaeger and Central junior Peter Andersen were named honorable mention.

Girls Tennis

While Central’s Jordan Leslie, at No. 1 singles, was the league’s player of the year, Wilmot juniors Liz Marquardt (No. 2 singles) and Chloe Meyer (No. 4 singles) were also part of the All-SLC squad. Central junior Emily Schultz merited honorable mention.

Girls Volleyball

Christina Brinkman, an outside hitter, was the player of the year and joined on the SLC first team by fellow Falcon Emily Neaver, a senior setter.

The league’s second teamers included Central senior OH Samantha Rampart and sophomore middle Chelsea Visk and Wilmot junior OH Paige Madsen. Central sophomore Sara Shumaker and Wilmot senior Brielle Bland were both garnered honorable mention.
