Tremper had seven wrestlers advance to the championship match and came away with five titles in the Southeast Conference Meet on Saturday at Racine Horlick.

Muskego, ranked fourth in the latest Wisconsin Wrestling Online state poll and eighth in the Crossface state poll, won the eight-team meet with 2441/2 points and the Trojans were second with 2131/2. Franklin rounded out the top three with 1911/2 points and Bradford took sixth with 831/2.

“Overall, it was a good day,” said Tremper coach Joel Dutton, whose team placed third in last year’s meet. “It was a great team effort.”

Tyler Rice (103), Dominic Garcia (119), David Hood (135), Levi Horton (140) and Brian Steinbrink (215) all prevailed in championship matches for the Trojans.

The Trojans were missing state-ranked heavyweight Najee Parker, who “will hopefully be back next week,” according to Dutton.

In the finals, Rice defeated Muskego’s Tyler Sinda, 8-4, Garcia won by major decision over Franklin’s Colin DeClark (8-0), Hood won by major decision over Franklin’s Adam Stelloh (15-7), Horton won by major decision over Racine Horlick’s Alex Amann (12-2) and Steinbrink prevailed in overtime against Muskego’s Alex Kehoe, 5-3.

Garcia improved to 43-1 on the season, while Hood improved to 46-2 and Horton improved to 43-3. Rice and Steinbrink are 39-5 and 37-7, respectively.

Justin Shepherd (145) and Ricky Oberg (152) both took second after losing in the championship. Shepherd lost by major decision to Muskego’s Jordan Lau (17-8), and Oberg was pinned by Muskego’s Jordan Sowinski in 1:56.

At 130, Trevor Mongeau won by major decision over Oak Creek’s Matt Hampson in the third-place match (8-0).

Sean Massie (103) and Armando Narvaez (152) both won third-place matches to lead the Red Devils. Massie defeated Oak Creek’s Joey Swick, 5-3, while Narvaez defeated Racine Park’s Kevin Evenson, 4-1.

Bradford’s Andrew Flesch (125) and Nygil McDaniel (285) and Tremper’s Jared Nichols (112) and Doug Carlson (189) all placed fourth.
